Release and platforms
Penguin Colony launches on 16 October 2026 at 10am PT. It was originally dated 8 October to line up with LudoNarraCon and moved a week later; the studio's explanation was final tweaks, localisation to lock down, and getting launch DLC ready in time. It ships on PC and on Nintendo Switch 2.
The store supports English, Arabic, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Maori. English is the only one flagged for full audio support, which matters because the game is heavily narrated.
The demo
The demo is a free, separate download and has been live since 4 June 2026. It contains the colony, the expedition trail, the base camp and interior ice routes, and it stops before the full game's answers arrive. There is no time limit on it.

The experience
You are a penguin, and the game is strict about that. You cannot change the world around you, you cannot intervene in what the humans are doing, and the HUD stays out of your way by design. The studio's director ties that directly to the design of Siren: this is a game about watching.
That is also where the horror comes from. The humans are not the monsters; what happens to their minds is.
Playing it well
The stamina ring only drains on climbs, so flat ice and water are always safe ground. Swapping penguins changes your body size, which is what lets a baby penguin get through gaps an adult cannot. There is no map, so navigation is done with landmarks: keep the colony behind you and the expedition's lights ahead.
Where to report a bug
The studio keeps a pinned demo feedback thread on the Steam forums and asks for four things: the build number from the bottom left of the main menu, what happened, what you expected, and any supporting evidence.
