Penguin Colony is out. It unlocked on 16 October 2026 at 10am PT on Windows through Steam, at $14.99 with a 10% launch discount. Here is what actually shipped, what day one looks like, and what is still missing.
What shipped

| Penguin Colony | Out now on Steam, Windows |
| Launch discount | 10% off, $14.99 down to $13.49; the store page says the offer ends 30 October |
| Deluxe Edition bundle | Live, and takes an extra 10% off the game plus the commentary pack together |
| Soundtrack and Director's Commentary | Live as a separate purchase at $6.99, also 10% off |
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Not out, planned for 2027 |
| PlayStation 5 | Not out, planned for 2027 |

Three launch bundles sit alongside the edition: an extra 20% off both games when bought with Tenebris Somnia, and an extra 10% with either 1000xRESIST or Umurangi Generation. The editions page breaks each one down.
The first day, in numbers
- Reviews: Steam showed a Positive rating from 28 reviews when this page was checked on 17 October 2026. The reviewers' median playtime was a little over three hours, so most of them had been through a full pass before writing.
- Achievements: the global unlock rates show penguin swapping lands immediately. The swap achievements for the four most common species are all above 97%, while the photograph hunt and the two hidden entries sit under 20%. The achievements page has the whole list.
- Patch notes: nothing published. The newest official post is the launch announcement itself, so there is no day-one patch to read.
What the launch post says
The studio's launch announcement is short and mostly points at the extras: the Deluxe Edition at a discount, the launch trailer, and the bundle partners. It also confirms what did not make the date. The third Deluxe item, the one tied to the Lenval Brown partnership, is not in the box, so the soundtrack and the commentary pack are the two pieces that shipped.
One platform, for now
This is a PC release. Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 versions were announced alongside the release date and are planned for 2027, and the store still lists them as upcoming rather than dated. Nothing about the PC launch moves that.
If you just bought it
- Start with the beginner guide for the first hour, then the walkthrough for the order the set pieces arrive in.
- Playing on a big monitor? Ultrawide still is not a menu option; the workaround on the troubleshooting page is the community one written against the demo build.
- Buying questions and platform answers are collected on the release and platforms page and in the FAQ.
